The world has entered into a new decade. New challenges and developments would be made in this coming year. In the span of ten years from 2001 to 2010, various diseases were seen in Australia due to which large numbers of individuals lost their lives.

  1. Cancer: Cancer is one of the mos
    t common diseases seen in Australia in the decade. According to a survey, 39,753 Australians died due to cancer in the year 2006. If this number is compared with the deaths caused due to cancer in earlier decade, an increase of 12% was seen in the number. Surely, this issue cannot be taken lightly and it should be handled at the earliest possible.Out of different types of cancer, prostate cancer has been the reason behind the death of 4.3 % of male Australians died. Amongst women, breast cancer has been taking away lives of large numbers of women. All these reasons pushed government of Australia to take serious steps for making people aware of the disease. With proper awareness about cancer, future generationscan be prevented from ill effects of disease of cancer.
  1. Cardiovascular Disease: Other kind of disease that has widespread in Australia and affected large numbers of Australian is cardiovascular disease. This is the group of disease where everything related to heart and blood vessels is included. Some of the problems that are considered under cardiovascular disease include stroke, high blood pressure, vascular diseases and a fewmore. It has been seen that maximum numbers of deaths in the years 2001-2010 has taken due to cardiovascular disease only. The health sector of the government has reported to spend maximum amount of money on this disease only. Thus, it has made government to think and devise ways to tackle the problem.

It has been seen that cardiovascular disease is caused due to lifestyle habits of individuals. If one wants to prevent himself of her from this disease, changing lifestyle for better is essential. If proper steps were not taken at this point of time, future generations would get affected by it to great extent. The measures taken by government for fighting back cardiovascular disease proved beneficial and this can be proved with decreased numbers of deaths in this decade. The stats say that 28,299 deaths took place due to this disease in 1998 that reduced to a count of 22,729 in the year 2007.

  1. Nervous System Disease: Other type of disease that increased considerably from the year 1999 to 2008 is nervous system disorder. Two types of nervous system diseases that made Australians lose their lives include Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

Consequences of Increased Diseases in Australia

The consequences of these diseases are not just increased mortality rate but many more. The government of Australia has to spend huge sum of money on these diseases that could be otherwise used for developmental tasks.

The government of Australia has taken action to deal with these most prevalent diseases in Australia and soon they would be able to decrease the count if not eradicate them completely.
